Why this cake:

My favorite sweets are often the simplest ones. Thoughtful, balanced, never too rich or too sweet. The kind you can have a generous slice of and really take your time with.

The beauty of this cake is that it can keep you company at any point in the day: as breakfast, an afternoon pick-me-up, or dessert to close out the night. There really isn’t much better than a good cake with good cream.
